Testing
This detector can be tested by injecting gas (no flame) from a
butane lighter for 5 seconds into the sensor(s). This test should
be done weekly to ensure proper operation of the detector.
If the detector goes through its normal start up cycle and testing
the sensor doesn't trigger an alarm, it's an indication that the
sensor is faulty. It should be returned to your dealer for warranty
replacement or, if your warranty has expired, you can obtain a
new sensor from your dealer or directly from us. See sensor details
in the GS/5 product section.
Warning!
The sensors used in all of our detectors can be contaminated by
water. If the sensor gets wet, the water causes a short circuit
in the sensor. The result is the same as propane completing the
sensor circuit and triggers an alarm even when no propane is present.
It is extremely important to keep the sensor dry at all times.
Read more in our Sensor section.
If you have determined that you don't have a leak and the sensor
continues in the alarm mode, it is likely that you have a contaminated
sensor. It should be returned to your dealer for warranty replacement
or, if your warranty has expired, you can obtain a new sensor
from your dealer or directly from us. See sensor
details on how it works.
